36：20众首领进院见王，却先把书卷存在文士以利沙玛的屋内，以后将这一切话说给王听。
And they went in to the king into the court； but they laid up the roll in the chamber of Elishama the scribe； and told all the words in the ears of the king。
36：21王就打发犹底去拿这书卷来，他便从文士以利沙玛的屋内取来，念给王和王左右侍立的众首领听。
So the king sent Jehudi to fetch the roll： and he took it out of Elishama the scribe's chamber。 And Jehudi read it in the ears of the king； and in the ears of all the princes which stood beside the king。
36：22那时正是九月，王坐在过冬的房屋里，王的前面火盆中有烧着的火。
Now the king sat in the winterhouse in the ninth month： and there was a fire on the hearth burning before him。
36：23犹底念了三四篇（或作行），王就用文士的刀将书卷割破，扔在火盆中，直到全卷在火中烧尽了。
And it came to pass； that when Jehudi had read three or four leaves； he cut it with the penknife； and cast it into the fire that was on the hearth； until all the roll was consumed in the fire that was on the hearth。
36：24王和听见这一切话的臣仆都不惧怕，也不撕裂衣服。
Yet they were not afraid； nor rent their garments； neither the king； nor any of his servants that heard all these words。
36：25以利拿单和第莱雅，并基玛利雅恳求王不要烧这书卷，他却不听。
Nevertheless Elnathan and Delaiah and Gemariah had made intercession to the king that he would not burn the roll： but he would not hear them。
36：26王就吩咐哈米勒的儿子（或作王的儿子）耶拉篾和亚斯列的儿子西莱雅，并亚伯叠的儿子示利米雅，去捉拿文士巴录和先知耶利米。耶和华却将他们隐藏。
But the king manded Jerahmeel the son of Hammelech； and Seraiah the son of Azriel； and Shelemiah the son of Abdeel； to take Baruch the scribe and Jeremiah the prophet： but the LORD hid them。
36：27王烧了书卷。其上有巴录从耶利米口中所写的话。以后耶和华的话临到耶利米说，
Then the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah； after that the king had burned the roll； and the words which Baruch wrote at the mouth of Jeremiah； saying；
36：28你再取一卷，将犹大王约雅敬所烧第一卷上的一切话写在其上。
Take thee again another roll； and write in it all the former words that were in the first roll； which Jehoiakim the king of Judah hath burned。
36：29论到犹大王约雅敬你要说，耶和华如此说，你烧了书卷，说，你为什么在其上写着，说巴比伦王必要来毁灭这地，使这地上绝了人民牲畜呢。
And thou shalt say to Jehoiakim king of Judah； Thus saith the LORD； Thou hast burned this roll； saying； Why hast thou written therein； saying； The king of Babylon shall certainly e and destroy this land； and shall cause to cease from thence man and beast？
36：30所以耶和华论到犹大王约雅敬说，他后裔中必没有人坐在大卫的宝座上。他的尸首必被抛弃，白日受炎热，黑夜受寒霜。
Therefore thus saith the LORD of Jehoiakim king of Judah； He shall have none to sit upon the throne of David： and his dead body shall be cast out in the day to the heat； and in the night to the frost。
36：31我必因他和他后裔，并他臣仆的罪孽刑罚他们。我要使我所说的一切灾祸临到他们和耶路撒冷的居民，并犹大人。只是他们不听。
And I will punish him and his seed and his servants for their iniquity； and I will bring upon them； and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem； and upon the men of Judah； all the evil that I have pronounced against them； but they hearkened not。
36：32于是，耶利米又取一书卷交给尼利亚的儿子文士巴录，他就从耶利米的口中写了犹大王约雅敬所烧前卷上的一切话，另外又添了许多相彷的话。
Then took Jeremiah another roll； and gave it to Baruch the scribe； the son of Neriah； who wrote therein from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of the book which Jehoiakim king of Judah had burned in the fire： and there were added besides unto them many like words。

37：1约西亚的儿子西底家代替约雅敬的儿子哥尼雅为王，是巴比伦王尼布甲尼撒立在犹大地作王的。
And king Zedekiah the son of Josiah reigned instead of Coniah the son of Jehoiakim； whom Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon made king in the land of Judah。
37：2但西底家和他的臣仆，并国中的百姓，都不听从耶和华藉先知耶利米所说的话。
But neither he； nor his servants； nor the people of the land； did hearken unto the words of the LORD； which he spake by the prophet Jeremiah。
37：3西底家王打发示利米雅的儿子犹甲，和祭司玛西雅的儿子西番雅，去见先知耶利米，说，求你为我们祷告耶和华我们的神。
And Zedekiah the king sent Jehucal the son of Shelemiah and Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah the priest to the prophet Jeremiah； saying； Pray now unto the LORD our God for us。
37：4那时耶利米在民中出入，因为他们还没有把他囚在监里。
Now Jeremiah came in and went out among the people： for they had not put him into prison。
37：5法老的军队已经从埃及出来，那围困耶路撒冷的迦勒底人听见他们的风声，就拔营离开耶路撒冷去了。
Then Pharaoh's army was e forth out of Egypt： and when the Chaldeans that besieged Jerusalem heard tidings of them； they departed from Jerusalem。
37：6耶和华的话临到先知耶利米说，
Then came the word of the LORD unto the prophet Jeremiah； saying；
37：7耶和华以色列的神如此说，犹大王打发你们来求问我，你们要如此对他说，那出来帮助你们法老的军队必回埃及本国去。
Thus saith the LORD； the God of Israel； Thus shall ye say to the king of Judah； that sent you unto me to enquire of me； Behold； Pharaoh's army； which is e forth to help you； shall return to Egypt into their own land。
37：8迦勒底人必再来攻打这城，并要攻取，用火焚烧。
And the Chaldeans shall e again； and fight against this city； and take it； and burn it with fire。
37：9耶和华如此说，你们不要自欺说迦勒底人必定离开我们，因为他们必不离开。
Thus saith the LORD； Deceive not yourselves； saying； The Chaldeans shall surely depart from us： for they shall not depart。
37：10你们即便杀败了与你们争战的迦勒底全军，但剩下受伤的人也必各人从帐棚里起来，用火焚烧这城。
For though ye had smitten the whole army of the Chaldeans that fight against you； and there remained but wounded men among them； yet should they rise up every man in his tent； and burn this city with fire。
37：11迦勒底的军队因怕法老的军队，拔营离开耶路撒冷的时候，
And it came to pass； that when the army of the Chaldeans was broken up from Jerusalem for fear of Pharaoh's army；
37：12耶利米就杂在民中出离耶路撒冷，要往便雅悯地去，在那里得自己的地业。
Then Jeremiah went forth out of Jerusalem to go into the land of Benjamin； to separate himself thence in the midst of the people。
37：13他到了便雅悯门那里，有守门官名叫伊利雅，是哈拿尼亚的孙子，示利米雅的儿子，他就拿住先知耶利米，说，你是投降迦勒底人哪。
And when he was in the gate of Benjamin； a captain of the ward was there； whose name was Irijah； the son of Shelemiah； the son of Hananiah； and he took Jeremiah the prophet； saying； Thou fallest away to the Chaldeans。
37：14耶利米说，你这是谎话，我并不是投降迦勒底人。伊利雅不听他的话，就拿住他，解到首领那里。
Then said Jeremiah； It is false； I fall not away to the Chaldeans。 But he hearkened not to him： so Irijah took Jeremiah； and brought him to the princes。
37：15首领恼怒耶利米，就打了他，将他囚在文士约拿单的房屋中，因为他们以这房屋当作监牢。
Wherefore the princes were wroth with Jeremiah； and smote him； and put him in prison in the house of Jonathan the scribe： for they had made that the prison。
37：16耶利米来到狱中，进入牢房，在那里囚了多日。
When Jeremiah was entered into the dungeon； and into the cabins； and Jeremiah had remained there many days；
37：17西底家王打发人提出他来，在自己的宫内私下问他说，从耶和华有什么话临到没有。耶利米说，有。又说，你必交在巴比伦王手中。
Then Zedekiah the king sent； and took him out： and the king asked him secretly in his house； and said； Is there any word from the LORD？ And Jeremiah said； There is： for； said he； thou shalt be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon。
37：18耶利米又对西底家王说，我在什么事上得罪你，或你的臣仆，或这百姓，你竟将我囚在监里呢。
Moreover Jeremiah said unto king Zedekiah； What have I offended against thee； or against thy servants； or against this people； that ye have put me in prison？
37：19对你们预言巴比伦王必不来攻击你们和这地的先知，现今在哪里呢。
Where are now your prophets which prophesied unto you； saying； The king of Babylon shall not e against you； nor against this land？
37：20主我的王阿，求你现在垂听，准我在你面前的恳求，不要使我回到文士约拿单的房屋中，免得我死在那里。
Therefore hear now； I pray thee； O my lord the king：
